Research Description: We are currently investigating the genetic basis of colorful pigmentation and convergent evolution in Anolis lizards. We are using a combination of transcriptome profiling and detailed phenotypic analysis to identify genes involved in producing colorful pigmentation and then investigating if those genes and genetic pathways are used repeatedly in convergent evolution at several levels of the biological hierarchy.
